Meet the Jackson Family – Owners of Mt Barney Lodge
G’day and welcome! We’re Troy and Rebecca Jackson, along with our two children, Parker and Pearl, and we’re excited to call Mt Barney Lodge home.
Troy came from a background in mining, while Rebecca was a hairdresser. We arrived at Mt Barney as managers with a plan to save for the lap around Australia, dreaming of more time outdoors, exploring the bush and enjoying life by the river with our family.
As it turned out, we made it just an hour and a half down the road before the opportunity came up to purchase Mt Barney Lodge—so much for that lap around Australia!
What we love most about Mt Barney is the beautiful mountain views, the river right on our doorstep and the peacefulness of it all. There’s something special about being here — it feels like you’re a million miles away from everyday life, giving you the chance to slow down, switch off and enjoy the simple things. It’s exactly the kind of place we were hoping to find on our lap around Australia, and we feel blessed to call it home. The kids are thrilled with the river, too.
You’ll also likely meet Mia, our friendly camp dog, who is living her absolute best dog life here! She’ll happily escort you down to the river for a swim or simply hang out at camp and keep you company. She’s pretty sure all our guests are here to see her, and who are we to argue?
Since taking over, our focus has been on caring for this beautiful property, preserving the legacy built over the past 30 years and gradually making it our own. We’re passionate about looking after the natural surroundings and continuing to provide the welcoming, relaxed camping and accommodation experience that generations of visitors have come to know and love.
We feel incredibly blessed to call this place home and look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new visitors. Whether you’re here for a family getaway, a weekend by the river or simply a chance to slow down and switch off, we hope you feel right at home.
